Blossoms and blooms in the pink

A quick card with lots of pink and a non coloured Penny Black image. I decided to leave the image uncoloured as the card was a bit fussy and I was a bit late in getting it finished for this post. I quite like the look and freshness of the card and may try using non coloured images again.
It is also time to remind you of the current challenge at Penny Black and More which is Blossoms and blooms. We are half way through the month but you still have until the end of April to enter. There are several prizes up for grabs this month and you can enter any card or project but  digi images are not allowed. To find out the details pop over the the PB blog.

Penny Black Blossoms

Hi everyone, time for another challenge at Penny Black and More. For the month of April the challenge theme is Blossoms and Blooms. I choose a PB rubber stamp called Blooming pansies and did minimal colouring as the papers were quite bold. It turned out a little bit vintage/ a little bit shabby. Not quite one or the other but I still like it. It didn't help when it did not photograph well and the sun was in and out all the time. Well, can't complain really as it is so nice to see that little bit of sun even though it is still quite cold.
There are several prizes up for grabs this and every month  for the challenge  so pop over to the PB blog to get all the info you need and a list of sponsors for this month.

Penny Black sweet card

It's nice to see some sunshine starting to warm up the days and all the lovely Crocus and Daffodils that are out at this time of year. This prompted me to make this little card. The Penny Black image I used is just adorable and is called For goodness sake and the flowers and leaves were cut using  CREAlies dies. It is also time to remind you that it is mid way through the Penny Black and More challenge but you still have plenty of time to enter. The theme is "Sweet". It can be a sweet image or something to eat. It's your choice  and you can use any stamped image but no digi images. There are several prizes you could win and the sponsors for this month are Penny Black, Crafty Ribbons, Crimson Cloud and  FlonzCraft. Pop over to the challenge blog to see all the details and the lovely cards the PB team have made.

Penny Black-So sweet

Another month and another challenge at Penny Black and More. This month the theme is "So sweet" which can be a sweet image or sweet food. The sponsors for this challenge are Penny Black, Crafty Ribbons, Crimson Cloud and FlonzCraft. Pop over to the PB blog to get all the details of the challenge and support the design team who have made some beautiful cards for your inspiration.

I don't normally use much red but with white and turquoise it makes a lovely colour combination. The polka dots give it a fun look and I really enjoyed making this card. My Penny Black image is called friendly tea time 1106K. The butterfly stamp is from FlonzCraft. The dies to cut my flowers and leaves are by CREAlies.

A bit more sparkle

For the mid month reminder of the Penny Black and More  "sparkle" challenge, I have made this cute card. There are several prizes up for grabs this month and you do not have to use a Penny Black stamp to participate.
I used Penny Black "Flowers for Mimi" stamp which is one of my favourites. I have also used  CREALies dies to cut my flowers and leaves. There are five flowers on one die and you certainly get your money's worth. I cut the flowers in white and then again in deep Orange. I creased down the centre of the petals to give dimension to the flowers.
I have not done any paper piercing for a while so added some around my image and across my card. I added small diamanties to some sparkly trim  and stickles glitter glue to the flowers around my image. Butterflies by Flonzecraft and a sentiment finished it off. Mimi looks a bit sick in this picture but it was taken on a dull day and it seemed to take out the lovely colour on her face.

A little bit of sparkle

The Penny Black and More challenge for the month of February is Sparkle and the design team have made some gorgeous cards for inspiration. Pop over to the blog for the challenge details and check out the lovely prizes up for grabs this month.
For my card I used this gorgeous turquoise paper from CraftWork cards which has a lovely delicate doily print on the corners. I used a Penny Black stamp called pin-striped and although it is hard to see,  I added glimmer dust to the leaves and stamens of the flowers and a touch on the with love sentiment and butterflies. There is also sparkle running through the pretty trim I used. The little detailed Butterflies are from a set from Flonz stamps. The tag is cut from a die by Marianne and I used a border punch to give my paper a lacy look. My card was finished off with some Stampin Up buttons and some white pearls.

A little house

This is a little house I made which makes a good gift holder ( I put chocolates in mine). The roof is hinged so a small gift or Chocolates can be put inside. I used papers and kraft card from CraftWork cards. The pretty pink and turquoise papers are printed with tiny flowers which worked perfectly for this project. For the apex of the roof I cut DP using scalloped edged scissors. I measured to strips of white card and punched the four edges. I then glued each piece to either side of the roof and glued two of the patterned edges upright to make the peak. Scaps of Kraft card were used to make the windows and door and I used a metal flower brad for the door handle. I punched flowers to decorate the front of the house and added Candi to the centres. I punched and added mini butterflies/ flowers/ die cuts/ stitched flower length and ribbon to decorate. You might just be able to see the loop handle on the roof for carrying the house. I made this by twisting white wire around ribbon and pushed it through the two holes I made with my Cropadile.
It took a good bit of time to make due to the measuring and the fiddly bits but I love my little house.

Fairy fun card

A little girly card with a pink, blue and white combo. I like using these colours together as I think they give a card a lovely fresh look. Everything I used came from old stash especially the rosette which was cut from a die that was lent to me over 2 years ago. The little sentiment ticket was free from  the web and has been in my stash for over a year. A quick little card to make but it is so cute and girly.

Penny Black Cherish card

Apologies  for the poor quality of my card photo. This has been the most annoying card to photograph coupled with the terrible weather at the time of taking it. I must have taken it literally more than 15 times.
The Penny Black and More challenge for the Month of January is " Love and Romance" so I pulled out one of my Penny Black Betsy Bluebell images to use. This cute image is so versatile, perfect for several different occasions.
I distressed the edges of my designer paper, large flower and Cherish notelet followed by some faux stitching around the edge. I added my three stamped Butterflies,  lace roses, pearls and sentiment to finish off.

A late Christmas card and gift

I enjoy making Christmas cards in non traditional colours so I used some goodies from Craftwork cards to make not only a card, but a quick gift too. I found some lovely Bluey Green card and used a layer under my designer paper and sentiment.

This is a shot of the corner of my card. I love using the flat coils that you curl around a pencil to make gorgeous flowers. For this one I stacked 2 different shaped flowers, some Candi and added a coiled flower in the centre. It gives depth and makes it tactile. I added a metal pearl brad to the centre to finish off.

I had an embossed square I wanted to use but it was a different shade of white to my card but I managed to find a Promarker exactly the colour I wanted. I  just inked the whole square in this gorgeous Bluey Green colour. I used the same Promarker to edge one of my mats around the Christmas tree to link the colours together.

I finished it off by adding some Candi to my sentiment before placing it on the base of my card.

I decided to make a little gift with some of the leftover papers. I found a great tutorial on You tube to make this little tea candle holder box by Pootles. This lady is amazing she makes fabulous boxes, bags and gifts with full instructions on her blog too.

After making the box I added tiny strips of leftover papers to the outside edges of the candles to cover the metal. I punched circles of wax paper and stamped butterflies on the centres. I punched a small hole in the centre with my Cropodile and slipped them over the wicks. I gently heated them until the wax melted the papers to the candles.

I decorated the top of the box with some ribbon, pretty pink iridescent fuzzy twine, a small paper flower and a pretty sentiment. All ready to be wrapped for a friend.
